#chicago
I haven’t been on here in about a year, but a lot has changed since my last post. The only reason I feel compelled to update this is because I don’t have to work until noon! And it’s only 8:45 here Central Time.
I’ve really been loving my job here in the city! It has been a lot of work and there have been good and bad days, but it’s been a great learning experience in so many aspects of my life. My career is definitely moving forward which is exciting! And to add to it, it’s been great exploring the city of Chicago, as it’s really become my new home.
Here are some pictures I’ve been meaning to post! They’re of my apartment.

Living Room
The couches are super comfortable! I’ve fallen asleep there watching tv before, as you can see from the blanket.. lol.

..Follow me to the kitchen…

It’s a little warped because I took / edited the photo on my iPhone, but I think it turned out okay. It’s been rearranged since this picture was taken, and it looks a bit different.
Front entrance to work from Michigan Avenue. This is the land of serious shopping no matter what you’re looking for. I still need to explore more of it but I work so much! I’ve gone walking around on days that are really nice during my lunch breaks. Took a peek at some of the Cartier watches hahah.. one day!

This was on a random week day while waiting for a bus. It’s ALWAYS super busy with a lot of people that are visiting and just out shopping having a good time. It’s never a bad day at work, for the most part.
Now back to my house..
Here’s the back deck when you step out of the kitchen.

It’s been re-arranged as well, but same furniture and what not. Also, it’s FULL of plants now and it looks like a little jungle. I’m actually typing this post while laying on that long chair right now! :)

Here’s a pic of the puppy that lives with me! His name is Koda and he’s a Jack Russell.
Alright, so that’s a small update of pictures that I’ve been meaning to post.
Dos (Two)
So, now I finally have my computer working! I can’t believe that it’s been almost a year since I’ve had my own to lug around with me.
Let me tell you that making your own Mac for only a few hundred dollars (I think I ended up spending about $400 altogether on things that I had to get) is definitely worth it. The Dell 10v’s are perfect out of the box to make into Macs, as they already have the insides that are compatible with what Snow Leopard 10.6 runs on. The only difficult part, which really shouldn’t have been if I had followed Gizmodo’s guide from the get-go, was getting the operating system onto a flash drive that is used in the process to load it onto the Dell 10v (it doesn’t come with a CD drive since it’s a netbook.
But anyways.. to sum it up it was a really easy experience and I highly recommend that if you are a Mac user but don’t want to buy the iPad, get a netbook and make it into a hackintosh. It honestly provides the same portability of the iPad, as well as the experience of having a full operating system.
On to today, though..
I’m sitting at Starbucks right now.. due to me running late for work (I forgot my badge, and I can’t get anywhere without a badge in this place) I was already going to get penalized as if I was 2.5 hours late, so I’ve decided to start this thing up again in the meantime, as well as start working on my resume.
I’ve already been here about an hour and a half and I’ve gotten a lot acomplished! I’ve been re-working my resume and updating it, as well, as it has been a while. I’m really happy with how it’s looking thus far, so now all I need to do is finish it up and polish it even more. The thing that’s worrying me is having to write a cover letter.. but that’s something i’ll tackle on another day. I gotta stay on task..
I have never felt as desperate as I do right now to get out of my current job. I don’t see it going anywhere, though it’s not a bad job by any means. I am craving being in a creative field where I can use my ability to come up with ideas and then bring people together with different strengths and ideas to bring it all together. I am determined to speak with someone at Columbus State soon about starting photography and design classes. Those are things that I feel are going to be a huge strength to me later on with what I truly want to be doing, so why not get it done now while I’m still young and this job market is bouncing up (though very, slowly, which is just an added stress of all of this).
I am finally going to be able to upload and work on pictures that I’ve taken with my phone. I saw a blog, which I’ll need to find and post on here, a while back about a photographer who only used an iPhone to take pictures. I thought the idea was humble, at best, but the results are truly amazing. I will need to go on the hunt for that.. I think a lot of people would be surprised that that was taken with a phone.
Ah.. I must get back to work. Time passes by quickly when working on things, which I’ve forgotten. I really do miss the responsibility of school and classes, to be honest. Soon I’ll be taking on a new path, so we’ll see where this takes me.
hello, internet
what better time than 7AM on Christmas day to start blogging again, huh? the last time I kept any sort of daily written record of my thoughts and ideas was back in high school - and I can safely say there have been many changes in my perspectives since then.i’m actually excited to have a place to write things down again. i’ve missed that form of outlet, so starting again will give me something else to do on my iPhone, right?
as of yesterday I started using Rhapsody and i’m loving the program! i’m still in my free trial period, but thus far most bands i’ve looked up have had their full catalog of albums. all I have to do is add them to my library and they’re mine. it’s like shopping on iTunes [back when I was in college at OU living off of student loans… oh the days…] and having then right on my phone whenever I open up the app.
i’m listening to animal collective’s new album ‘merriwheather post pavilion’ as I write this [fuck yes! to jailbreaking my phone and being able to muti-task on it] and it’s amazing. I think even if you didn’t like their kind of sound, most tracks are pretty amazing. I listened to it on a long drive yesterday while running errands and felt in my own world while getting from one place to another.
the way they are able to play with the beats and motions of their sound is amazing to me. while driving around yesterday it made me think back to an art course I took spring quarter my junior year. one of the things we talked about was the time key of current pop music [and how lame, boring, generic, (insert adjctv here) it is] and were asked to bring examples of music that wasn’t in that time key. i think that their sound sometimes is confused for noise because of how different it is but the key is finding the odd beats that in each song. my favorite song right now is ‘daily routine’ which was the inspiration for the title of my blog, the daily. it may change [the blog title] but that song is amazing. I invite everyone to give the album a listen but under these conditions: 1] you have to be alone and listen to it for yourself 2] and while listening, smoking some herbal medicine will only enhance the albums’ sounds.
if you get a chance to listen to it, leave a msg and let me know what you thought of it. sober or intoxicated, hahah! but trust me - it makes a difference.
